PaulS Posted February 9, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 9, 2019 I recently purchased this pair of M36 or M43 supenders. They are marked Anchor Canvas 1945. It was period modified to a pair of M44 field pack suspenders. The buckles for the M1944/45 field pack straps are a mixture of brass on on side and steel on the other. Would these be considered correct for late WWII and/or post war issue?

PaulS Posted February 9, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted February 9, 2019 With out the padding they are correct for the M-44 set up. They have padding because originally they were either the late M1936 or M1943 suspenders (depending on who you ask). This one was reworked so it could be used with the M44/45 packs. After WWII the M1936/ M1943 suspenders and the M1936 field bag were replaced by the M1945 pack system for officers and enlisted alike.

The M-44 suspenders have no padding, the M-45 has padding. They are different suspenders. Note in this photo showing how the M-44 pack is attached to the the suspenders, the suspenders have no padding.
Andrew Posted February 14, 2019 Share #9 Posted February 14, 2019 They are correct for the M1944 or M1945 set-up because they were modified for that purpose.
