dan_the_hun84 Posted February 7, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 7, 2019 Hello I am looking at a uniform that has a full last name of "Campbell"- and what looks to be a 7- digit serial number of 6846531- if you take the jacket at face value on its insignia- would appear to have been worn by a pre-WW2 RA soldier- so would explain why I cant get a hit on any of the normal resources for looking up SNs or laundry marks would that SN make sense for a guy that enlisted in the early to mid 30s? also if this is the incorrect forum, please feel free to move- figured that dog tags and SNs are in the same family so starting here

BEAST Posted February 7, 2019 Share #3 Posted February 7, 2019 According to our friends at Wiki, Army serial numbers used during the period of 1919-1941 were in the 6,000,000 - 7,099,999 range. So yours seems to fit in the pre-WWII range. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_number_(United_States_Army)
BEAST Posted February 7, 2019 Share #4 Posted February 7, 2019 BTW, on FOLD3, it checks out to a Richard M. Campbell, Field Artillery. It appears that he was in Hawaii during the early 1930s.
