Almost looks like an ACH if you painted it the right color, I can see why they came up with the idea of velcro-attached covers shortly thereafter but am surprised they didn't immediately carry the concept over from the M1 rather than experimenting with painting one. Wonder if it's intentional that the guy on the left looks sad with his non-Kevlar M1 and the guy on the right is smirking.

It’s seems that the new PASGT design is unfamiliar to both the soldier wearing it and photographer for one of the first “official” rollout pictures. Anyone else notice the PASGT chinstrap is being worn upside down and inside out...lol.
