Brian Keith Posted January 25, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 25, 2019 Ive wanted one of these for years, just never bought one of the many I saw. While we were cleaning out my late uncles home, I came across this one with his Boy Scout items. He and my father were in the scouts in the mid-40s, so little doubt purchased from WW II surplus. My Dad didnt actually remember it. My uncle did serve in the Army in Korea, 3rd Division, Graves Registration. There are lots of threads about these massive folding knives. Ill have to look for a Navy version now! It is in great shape and Im glad the saw is unbroken! This example was manufactured by the United Machine Tool Company of Grand Rapids Michigan. Markings are very light. Thanks for looking, BKW
Tony V Posted January 25, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 25, 2019 Brian Congratulations on a super addition to your collection. Great knowing the family connection with your uncle and having his Boy Scout items. Tony
Brian Keith Posted January 25, 2019 Author Share #3 Posted January 25, 2019 Thanks for your comments Tony. I did a historic Boy Scout display a few years ago (before I got my uncles things), I don't actually collect Boy Scout items, but did end up doing a nice exhibit for the event. I am an Eagle Scout. sundance Posted January 25, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 25, 2019 Neat knife and great to have the family connection. I'm not familiar with them but I'll be looking out for them now. That's what I like about this forum - you're always learning.

doyler Posted January 26, 2019 Share #7 Posted January 26, 2019 Great knife! I didnt know there was a difference between the Air Force version and a Navy version Whats the difference? Marv Believe the Navy version has the large bail/swivel loop on the end. There is a pouch marked USN with a slot in the top for the bail to stick through
