M24 Chaffee Posted January 22, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2019 Hello, I found a couple of rusty, relic condition, but still nice for display, WWII tank shell casings on a UK website. They said that they have shipped shell casings to the US using DHL and have had no problems. Would there be any issues with US. customs? They are just relic, unusable, empty casings. I want to feel confident that Id be able to receive my order. Thanks in advance for any help! Frank
Garandomatic Posted January 22, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 22, 2019 I bought some wwi relics and they were labeled as "decorative wire," "grandfather clock parts" and a few other things. I'd be interested to see what you find out.

917601 Posted January 22, 2019 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2019 US Customs has categories, I have used " machined metal parts or forged metal parts" for incoming items. No problems yet. However, I recently shipped a 1945 dated deactivated, dummy training mine to a person in Italy, it was confiscated by Customs in Miami as an " instrument of war", I could hire a lawyer, show up in Federal court in Miami to contest it, or let them keep it, no other options. Court date was sent to me by certified mail, all very intimidating. I spoke with agents on the phone and they said I could contest it but I had to fill out mounds of paperwork just to challenge it. They stole it, plain and simple. A shame as it was going to a museum in Italy, now it's probabably sitting on some Customs and Border agent's bookcase. Rotten bunch they are.Be careful, the seller should know how to handle shipping.

M24 Chaffee Posted January 30, 2019 Author Share #7 Posted January 30, 2019 Just an update. My relic shells arrived from the U.K. in 3 business days as promised with no issues. They were labeled accurately as “empty steel shell casings”. I won’t post photos because they are German panzer related. Thanks, Frank
