S.Sgt. Woody Beard of Keller, Texas. Nov.3 1918- Jan. 13 2018  passed away Sunday afternoon to be with the lord. At the age of 100. Woody served in North Africa and Italy during the war. Woody rarely shared stories of war. But when he did we all listened. He shared many  humorous stories like when he was with a friend another soldier, just out of basic.  Woody's hands were both full with packages as they passed a 2nd Lieutenant, the other saluted, Woody desperate to figure out what to. Switched hands a returned a left handed salute. He said the officer just kept on walking shaking his head. Then there were the other stories of friends who were killed. Woody was a fixture at the local McDonalds were his favorite game dominos was played every morning. I played games to fill in, rarely did I win. He would tell you what to play. Almost knowing what you had. Everyone would hug Woody, shake hands and have a chat. When he turned 95 McDonalds had a Super Bowl commercial spot that showed the sign out front Happy 95th Woody. Woody was one in a million, still driving until last year. A father figure to a lot. I will miss my old friend. Baseball, horse racing and dominos were his passion, as well as family & friends. God Bless you Woody, you will be missed by all that knew you. Rest In Peace my friend.

pictured Woody and his bride as he referred to her. Sylvia. (100th Birthday party)  Woody wearing my tribute jacket, he would always say why are you wearing my jacket? 757th Tank Battalion.

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Woody.  May he rest in peace.  He's undoubtedly catching up with his buddies and family in heaven.  God blessed him with a rich long life and he called him home.

Take care,
