shifty5580 Posted January 14, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2019 Hello everyone, I just discover this 101st airborne patch, but would like to know the date of it (ww2?) Thanks a lot Bertrand

Allan H. Posted January 14, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 14, 2019 These triangle eyed patches are German made, so thus they are post WWII. Again, if you want to collect variations of the 101st patch- Bando's Trigger Time forum is the place to go. Allan
No Quarter Posted January 14, 2019 Share #4 Posted January 14, 2019 Agree that it is post war. Is that red drop below the beak just loose thread or is it part of the patch? Jacob

vintageproductions Posted January 14, 2019 Share #7 Posted January 14, 2019 Allan- Are you sure this isn't a US made piece from the 50's-60's since it has the blue base material?
Wake1941 Posted January 14, 2019 Share #8 Posted January 14, 2019 Looks US made to me as well, the stitching does not look German IMO
Allan H. Posted January 14, 2019 Share #9 Posted January 14, 2019 Senior moment folks- Yes, the patch that started the thread is a US made piece with a distinctive "triangle eye" as Bando calls it. I was crossing myself up with the "yellow eye" German-made example. Mea Culpa! Allan
Proud Kraut Posted January 14, 2019 Share #10 Posted January 14, 2019 Unfortunately I didn't find any German made postwar variants on Bando's website althought they were made over here since 1945. Or did I miss something?
Teamski Posted January 16, 2019 Share #11 Posted January 16, 2019 I concur, post-WWII US made with the 1950's matching twill backing. -Ski
Allan H. Posted January 16, 2019 Share #12 Posted January 16, 2019 It has been a long time since I actually looked at Bando's "eagle Patch Corner" and the information there is much more sparse than it used to be. Many years ago, Bando sold a booklet that had all of the patch variations based on his numbering system. Pieces like the triangle eye 101st patch and the German made yellow eye were in that booklet. I don't know if Bando ever reprinted his booklet, but it was far more comprehensive than the website. Allan
