snake36bravo Posted January 12, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted January 12, 2019 Thank you all. I was told by a former unit commander they weren't good based on the colors and had to call for fire. Glad to know my worries were for naught. Appreciate the QRF response from all.
CaptCav Posted January 12, 2019 Share #7 Posted January 12, 2019 Welllll, at one time, I had what most collectors considered the finest RVN air cav trp patch collections going. Then wrote what is now considered one of the definitive references on air cav trps, in RVN - it was published twice. Two thoughts - * They are "in-country" real deals. * They were made around 1970-71 by an ASMIC member, in his shop in-country. To me, that's about as close as you are going to get. That's about the same as when I was a kid, my monthly trips to "the BIG PX in Frankfurt" and buying all those patches that collectors now consider German-made, mouth watering goodies. Thanks for the information. Can you elaborate on the ASMIC member's shop? Who is this member? It sounds to me like patches were being made just for the state-side patch market, and secondarily, for anyone that walked in that wanted one.
