I thought I would post some pictures of a KA-BAR USN Mark 2 variation fairly hard to find in good condition, (for me anyway). It is blade marked KA-BAR – USN and has a Bonderized, (light grey), blade finish. Both knives have a thick pommel attached with a round peen. Both knives have a thin handle. Very happy to acquire the top knife this week. I have not found an example of this knife with the thick pommel attached by a rectangular peen but they might be out there.
These knives are the same type as number 2, shown on page 363, in Bill Walters new book.
I don’t know what the “V I / U” stamping means on the pommel of the top knife.
