I traveled out to Northwest Illinois this week to check on things at our family farm. My grandparents and then my parents lived on the farm and they have all passed on. The house is chock full of stuff and so my siblings and I have been going thru stuff, determining what to keep and what to donate. As I was sifting through stuff, I came across my grandfathers hat cord from WW1.  I had been looking for that for 30 years and finally found it!.  I have had his hat for well over 30 years but missing the cord. The cord is a bit scroungy looking but now it is back where it was 101 years ago! He was a 2LT so I assume this is an officers cord:

While I am out there, I always visit some of the antique stores in the small towns. I found this WW2 era UFH marked bayonet at antique store in Peru, Illinois for $53, the Spanish American War era Navy belt plate in El Paso, Illinois for $45 as well as the 127th Infantry screwback DI.

Your DUI looks like that of the 128th Infantry Regiment. The look pretty similar.

I am pretty sure color is the only difference.

Allan, You are right it is for the 128th!  I relooked at my reference and the 127th & 128th insignia are very similar but there is a slight design difference.

268th C.A.:  You are right! I had been looking for that hat cord for many years and finally found it Wednesday!  I knew exactly what it was when I saw it and I immediately grabbed it!

Congrads on finding the hat cord! Nice to see them together. That had to be a great feeling!
The other finds aren't bad either!
