Hi Wayne,

To my point of view, it's a WWI 'till early 20's French Air Force tunic button.

Any marking on the the reverse?

Cheers,

Gil

Scovill???

Wayne, it's Very interesting as it's an American company!

First time I hear about something like this.

I've seen a lot of makers for these buttons with small details variation. They exist in gold or silver (depending the unit the pilot belong to before reaching aviation)

Please find several example.

But I've never seen these buttons made by Scovill.

Any chance it's been made for LaFayette Flying Corps veterans?

Thanks Gil. Personally I think its possibly not WW1 period French AF, the props in your photo are quite wide bladed and there are a lot of feathers to each wing, also the prop is not much higher than the top of the wings, unlike my button. Perhaps as you say made for some Veteran Society or such?

Better pic
