denfly Posted January 3, 2019 Share #1 Posted January 3, 2019 Hello helpful forum members. Noticed an enameled collar disk for sale and was wondering were these authorized and how long were they in use and if they were foreign made because I find no reference to these in "The collar disk story" book, and were they made in certain colors in reference to branch of service, red for artillery, etc.? CNY Militaria Posted January 3, 2019 Share #2 Posted January 3, 2019 Any pics of the one you saw so that we can have a context?
Wake1941 Posted January 4, 2019 Share #3 Posted January 4, 2019 In the 50s Germany and some other countries produced enamel backs for the collar disk. They were two piece and some that are one solid piece. Is that what you are referring to?

denfly Posted January 5, 2019 Author Share #6 Posted January 5, 2019 Okay, I went back in time on this site and found one mention of this on Feb.22, 2014 at 1045pm by Kman1752. These were experimental in the 1920's but that's all the info available. They came in varying colors. Can anyone add info on these disks? Yes, exactly like that. derrbrad Posted January 7, 2019 Share #8 Posted January 7, 2019 All I can tell you is that they were experimental, expensive to produce(probably why they never became standard), and somewhat rare. I have two with a yellow background(for cavalry). The one I pictured above and another with just US. That is the only two variations that I have seen. But have seen yellow, light blue, and tan in the background enamel. Also they normally have a hand scratched number on the back. Serial? Haven't held enough to be sure. My reference books are in storage, that's just what I remember.
