Jumpin Jack Posted January 2, 2019 Share #26 Posted January 2, 2019 You have a great eye for layout. I have a nice complete M4 gas mask if you are in need of one as it would be a correct alternative to the assault mask. Jack
Centurion1982 Posted January 2, 2019 Author Share #27 Posted January 2, 2019 You have a great eye for layout. I have a nice complete M4 gas mask if you are in need of one as it would be a correct alternative to the assault mask. Jack Thanks Jack! I am not yet 100% sure which gas mask to use: - M2A2 Diaphragm Gas Mas + M1VA1 carying bag - M3 Lightweight Service Gas Mask + M6 carying bag - M4 Lightweight Service Gas Mask + M6 carying bag - M5 Assault Gas Mask + M7 rubberized carrying bag On this picture at Omaha on D-Day+1 it looks to be a M6 carying bag with an M3 or M4 Gas Mask. What would be the correct gas mask + carying bag?
Geoff Posted January 4, 2019 Share #28 Posted January 4, 2019 You correct, Marcel. The 2nd Division came ashore with M6 bags and either M3 or M4 gasmasks, at least those troops who can be seen in the beachhead photo are carrying M6 bags. The M2 bag and mask was more correct for North Africa or Sicily, but by mid-1944 those early masks and bags had been replaced. The M5 assault masks and rubberized bags were limited to the initial assault units - 1st, 4th, and 29th Divisions and the Ranger units.
Indexred Posted January 4, 2019 Share #29 Posted January 4, 2019 Great mannequin. Now you need to find an M1 helmet with an Indianhead painted on it. Real ones are scarce to say the least.
