Siamundo Posted December 22, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 22, 2018 I have not been able to confirm this yet with any images posted online, but I think this patch might be from the Combat Aircrew Training unit at Barber Point, Hawaii during WW II. From the http://aviation.hawaii.gov/airfields-airports/oahu/barbers-point/ website, "The Bureau of Aeronautics recommended that Gunnery Facilities be set up at NAS Barber’s Point and this was accomplished in July of 1943. Originally the unit was designated as an Aerial Free Gunnery Unit but the name was changed to Combat Aircrew Training Unit about November 1944" It is silk screened or printed on heavy canvas type material as some WW II Navy patches were made. Jeffro Posted December 25, 2018 Share #2 Posted December 25, 2018 Wow, that is an awesome patch! What are the dimensions? Jeffro
Siamundo Posted December 25, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted December 25, 2018 Thank you Jeffro. It is about 6" x 6", but I'm sure it could be cut down or trimmed for sewing on purposes. I have to think it was stuck away in a drawer or scrap book as it is in near pristine condition.
