Pre NASA 1940s NACA Bearcat F8F Fighter Inside Wind Tunnel

I thought I would share this interesting image of a wind tunnel test at Langley. I don't know the exact date but I believe it to be from 1942. The F8F had a huge 4 blade prop.

Wow, that is a neat picture. The wind tunnel is huge!!

 

Looking at the history of the Bearcat production, I would guess that the picture is around 1943-44 ish.

I thought I would share this interesting image of a wind tunnel test at Langley. I don't know the exact date but I believe it to be from 1942. The F8F had a huge 4 blade prop.

The National Insignia on this aircraft indicates the photos were taken sometime between late 1943 and 1947. Notice no red surround and no red center stripe on the white bars. I would think it was probably taken in late 1945 before the Bearcat entered service.
