Bob Hudson Posted December 12, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 12, 2018 The 33 1/3 vinyl album "Sounds of Parris Island" was recorded at Recruit Depot, Parris Island and released in 1960. It is almost an hour long, but i have taken some excerpts from that and and put together this 17 minute version. The dialogue can be tough for some folks to understand first time around. See if you can hear the part where recruits are told what to do if their underwear doesn't fit. You have to wonder what it what like for the DI's to be this nice in an era when physical punishment and verbal abuse were supposedly common? Near the end a DI questions a recruit who dropped his rifle! I have heard that was damn near a fatal mistake, but this guy got off with a stiff warning.
