jhungary Posted December 9, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 9, 2018 Not sure if this is allowed or counted as military uniform, but Donut Dolly is widely accepted as one of the "guys" by nam vet, so I am taking a plunge and post it here, moderate can remove this post if they think this is not up to the forum standard The uniform is for Ms Rice, having both her name tag and name written inside. it comes with 3 separate pieces, a full length dress, a jacket and a nurse cap. I was informed that Ms Rice was a donut dolly during 1970s and that is what she wear in Nam On the other hand, I have no idea on the authenticity of the uniform, I have another thread going on "Real or What" section, so if anyone know anything about donut dollies, please help.. Dave Posted December 9, 2018 Share #2 Posted December 9, 2018 This hasn't gotten many bites, but from what I can see, it looks fine to me. At the same time, I was unaware that people are faking these uniforms, so I may not be fully informed sufficiently...
jhungary Posted December 9, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted December 9, 2018 This hasn't gotten many bites, but from what I can see, it looks fine to me. At the same time, I was unaware that people are faking these uniforms, so I may not be fully informed sufficiently... Actaully, I am not sure whether people actaully fake these uniform, but for me to display in my collection, i need to know whether or not they are authentics. So I basically know every story for each and every of my uniform collection. But as I said, I know absolutely nothing about ARC and donut dolly. And people in other thread saying this is a ARC volunteer uniform, may not be Donut Dolly. Thanks
Wake1941 Posted December 9, 2018 Share #4 Posted December 9, 2018 Its an authentic Red Cross Uniform, without documentation or any prior history I would not call it a donut dolly. There were plenty of women who were in the Red Cross stateside during the war.
Dave Posted December 9, 2018 Share #5 Posted December 9, 2018 There was a Joyce Rice who was a Donut Dolly in Vietnam. Her e-mail address is available on the web...I'm sure there might be others with the same last name, but maybe you could contact her and ask?
