Latewatch Posted December 7, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2018 I have been looking for examples of these grenades for years and suddenly all 4 fall into my lap within a 2 week period from two separate sources. I would go out and buy a lottery ticket but I spent all my slush fund money on rifle grenades...... left to right: British No.27 WP Combination Hand and Rifle Grenade. 80,000 of these were purchased in 1918 for use by the AEF M9A2 Anti-Tank Rifle Grenade Energa T-41 adopted by US as the M28 HEAT Rifle Grenade M31 HEAT Rifle Grenade. Real de-watted HEAT round and not a converted practice round.
917601 Posted December 7, 2018 Share #2 Posted December 7, 2018 I do not use the term " rare" often, but the last two are rare, and I would even say " unobtainable" in the Ordnance world. All HEAT rounds are rare due to the hazards of down loading the " energetic" filling. They must be cooked out, ruining the paint job....but rare factory " samples" were made by manufacturers. Your M31 appears to be an example. bbmilitaria Posted December 7, 2018 Share #3 Posted December 7, 2018 Great examples, I am envious. Congratulations!
ccyooper Posted December 10, 2018 Share #4 Posted December 10, 2018 Very nice the energa and m31 are rare as you indicate. Ive seen more energa rounds than 31s probably because there was a hard push to sell them in the US and have them adopted by US.
