illinigander Posted December 6, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 6, 2018 I recently was given a WW1 dog tag, and I wonder what his unit was. It is stamped: RALPH. R. HARRISON. 266522 CO.10. 1ST. M. M. U.S.A. Ralph seemed to like periods. Thanks Illinigander

Salvage Sailor Posted December 6, 2018 Share #3 Posted December 6, 2018 Similar dogtag from a 2012 posting on the Aerodrome Forum IMMSC = 1st Motor Mechanics Regiment, Signal Corps Co12M = 12th Batallion, Company M (Correction to this posters info - This is Company 12, no battalion designator) AEF = American Expeditionary Force = name given to U.S. forces in Europe during and after the Great War AIR SERVICE = the name of the US aviation section in the US Army after May 24, 1918 and until July 2, 1926. The Motor Mechanics Regiments were generally attached to headquarters offices. They were the guys who maintained and drove the supply trucks, troop trucks, ambulances, officer's cars, messenger motorcycles, etc. in the Air Service.
