Nice post,

 

One of my favorite bits of naval trivia is in regard to my fathers Battleship, the USS MISSISSIPPI.

 

She is the only USN ship with a Castle on her tote board, racked up for destroying Shuri Castle on Okinawa in 1945

Eugene Fluckey was a great commander and leader when he skippered the Barb in WWII. I've always wished that Hollywood would do a movie about him as reality would far outstrip fantasy in his story.

 

Forum member Dave used to have one of Fluckey's uniforms. I don't know if he still does or not, but the uniform is posted here on the forum.
