Salvage Sailor Posted December 3, 2018 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2018 Aloha Everyone, This full size booklet was made by the Department of the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery for the US Naval Hospital (No. 10) at Aiea Heights, Oahu, Territory of Hawaii in December of 1944. Aiea Heights was the major medical facility of the US Navy on Oahu during World War Two for Marines and Sailors wounded and injured in the Pacific. In Naval secrecy parlance, it was known as "No. 10" to the civilians and post office during the war. The booklet was sent home by a wounded Machinist Mate 1st class to his daughter and wife so they could see the facility where he was recovering. I posted his Christmas menu and letter on the Military Christmas card topic.

Salvage Sailor Posted December 3, 2018 Author Share #16 Posted December 3, 2018 US NAVAL HOSPITAL AIEA HEIGHTS, T.H. 1944 This is the Christmas Card menu sent to his daughter Patsie. US Naval Hospital No. 128 was part of the Pearl Harbor/Aiea Height Naval Hospital complex Excerpts: "Hello Patsie, Enclosed please find menu and booklet on hospital I'm patient at. It's a beautiful day here today.....Honey, it's the policy of we navy men to gripe. But this time I must confess we had the finest dinner I had since I came in the service. The menu as printed does not give justice to those who splendidly prepared and served this meal. So I take my hat off to the gang at 128 for this splendid meal, and thank the good lord for guiding me to it....."
