WW2 USN dog tag question

Just won these tags for a display of mine and noticed something I have never seen before. The service number is 6 numbers long with no dashes. Most tags I've seem from WW2 have 3 numbers a dash then 2 numbers with a dash then 2 more numbers. Can anyone explain?

I've seen a lot of Navy numbers like that. I just think its the way some did it. I have several like that....
