Aloha Everyone,

Another piece from my Pineapple Army collection - this time an Oroid (artificial gold) Army Air Corps disc made by Hilborn Hamburger in the 1930's which belonged to a member of the 18th Pursuit Group at Wheeler Field, T.H.

4 piece construction and shiny

I've always found this to be an interesting piece, not only for the H-H Oroid finish, but the square cut on the disc and square peg on the AAC wings

See post #33 to #38 here as possible examples of these Oroid Air Service pieces in use circa 1936

I actually just picked up a type 2 Cavalry MG/B collar disc marked the same way, only one I had seen.

Unlike other type 2 discs, it can be disassembled like a type 3...like the one posted.

Makes me think mine is a mid 1930’s transitional piece and the disc posted late 30’s +/-.

Thanks for posting!

Aloha John,

Do you have some photos of your Cavalry disc that you can post for us?
