Austin_Militaria Posted November 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 28, 2018 I picked this helmet up yesterday and am a bit confused. It is a WWII manufactured rear seam airborne helmet, I can't make out the heat stamp. Seems to have been originally unit marked for the 463rd and named, then painted over, unit marked and named again. I cannot make out the original painted over name James H..., only 4 or 5 letters in the last name. The second name is Edward J. Bara, RA12371205, which is a post WWII Army Serial Number. The 463rd was disbanded October 1945. Any help and input would be appreciated.

ken88 Posted November 28, 2018 Share #4 Posted November 28, 2018 Well for starters it's a reissue so that could explain the post war serial number, you can clearly see another name there. The insignia look as if they were dug up, the post war serial number being on top of that lighter green layer is consistent with this assumption.
