I recently picked up a Vietnam era helmet and noticed it had "-27-" stamped on the chinstrap. Any meaning to this?

Thanks

Maybe just some grunts lucky number. For example, the elastic band on my helmet was emblazoned with my

"ETS" date and home state.

From what I am reading, it sounds like a post Vietnam 1970's-80's era chinstrap, the one with the chincup and snap closure, as others have stated

I agree I have never seen a lot number on a 52-73 chinstrap, but I've seen lot numbers on the nylon of all 73-8? chinstraps
