Grunt1SG Posted November 23, 2018 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2018 F Co 51st Infantry has been activated and deactivated several times since Vietnam. I am going to address the the second time. F Co 51st INF LRS was activated in Germany in December 1986. It was 7th Corps LRS Company. For the first four years of it's existence it was not on jump status. I joined F Co in Jan 1990 at Coffey Kaserne Ludwigsburg, Germany. We went on jump status in August 1990. In Dec 1990 we deployed to Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. After the ground war was over and while waiting to return to Germany we received notice that not only was the company going to deactivate but also the entire 7th Corps. The company was deactivated in Nov 1991. After our return to Germany the company had scrolls made and issued 1 full color and 1 subdued to everyone in the company. The scrolls were made by Kalka Maschinenstickerei in Augsburg, Germany. Kalka carried these in there catalog until the early '01. I bought the last they had in January of that year. The pictures are of the two that I was issued, front and back. The Iron Brigade Posted November 30, 2018 Share #4 Posted November 30, 2018 Scrolls were issued, but were they ever worn? Sometimes these scrolls pop up on eBay. Have these scrolls been reproduced for the collectors market? Thanks for posting them.
Grunt1SG Posted December 2, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted December 2, 2018 There were worn by members of the company after deactivation, unofficially of course. I have a pic of me wearing it as a combat patch in Afghanistan. I will post it as soon as I can find it. There are other F Co scrolls, but they are all have a different design in the scroll. I am always on the lookout for these. I have seen a couple of original ones pop up and I bough the ones that I have seen.
