Bought this for $60 at an antique mall in Las Vegas today. Don't know if it's legit, but it is pretty rusty and not too expensive. What say you?

Without any concrete evidence its hard to go off just it having UDT written in marker. Still not a bad price

Should I strip the electrical tape off the hilt or leave it as-is?

I have a set of the navy foul weather bibs.THey are UDT marked on the front.

Its possible the handle was wrapped by the owner. The tape would waterproof the leather grip and add a more positive grip when wet.

Granted most of the UDT/SEALS carried the issue MK2  USN knife in the grey scabbards. But this said early members could use anything they could aquire.

Thanks for the replies. I agree that if it's an authentic UDT item, the tape could have been applied to "save" the leather. Even the scabbard looks exposed to sea water. Anyway, I like it.
