A early pre-war Meyer Submarine badge with the "positioning pin" still attached. These pins would hole their shirts worming and tearing them.Many Submariners would break them off solving that problem.
A really nice badge...

That's a helluva long stabilizing pin...I'm guessing it was intentionally bent because it kept stabbing the wearer in the chest

It was bent over intentionally.I have seen them bent downward or bent towards the side as the one pictured.
