Alamo Scout patch

There is a new listing for this Alamo Scout patch with starting bid of 1750. It is hand made not the US made that most feel comfortable with. It is also similar to another on ebay by well known dealer offered at 5000 with letter of documentation, etc.What do forum experts think?

Mort even if it is real which I do not believe it is it does not fit the norm which makes it almost impossible to get rid of when you sell a collection.The only two which you can sell and be sure of is the Standard US made one and the Philippine made one both made during WW2.I scanned both of them so people can see the differences.Scotty PS the Philippine one was a named patch.

The person that he has making these evidently never read Les Hughes' OUTSTANDING article on the Alamo Scouts, as they don't compare. http://www.insigne.org/alamo-main.htm

 

Of course Les first had these articles published in the ASMIC "Trading Post." Another reason to be an ASMIC member- get to read outstanding articles like Les' work when they first come out.

The patch in question just screams "Pakistani Made" to my eye, especially with that thick embroidery thread.

I thought that it could be a Japanese made version made for someone in the KW. Does not have the bullion thread but very similar to the one listed at http://www.alamoscouts.org/main-index/insignia/

The one that Pat is selling is a "A Filipino-made version of the Alamo Scouts patch constructed on Luzon in mid-1945. These patches were purchased locally when the original order of 440 patches was exhausted. "

 

I liked the patch....but you have to be sure at $1750. It is very similar in construction with the one on the website posted above. I just bought a house so I have no money. Would a Korean War era patch command a typical WWII price? I doubt it but still a good filler for someone that wants one....though the past 3 of 4 US made of the 440 have all sold around $1600-1700.

The OP patch looks like a standard Japanese made patch. There are several Japanese made patch styles and this one is very indicative of one shop. I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with it except the next guy probably won't believe it. There are plenty of handmade alamo patches to be afraid of, but i wouldn't count this as one. Best ABN

I have no dog in this fight just wanted to see discussion, however checking the images provided by forum of Philippine made examples this looks pretty good. The real problem is you may like it but the next in line has a tough decision to make.
