cagedfalcon Posted October 29, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 29, 2018 About 2+ months ago I bought a small powder horn at a garage sale. Went home & was wiping it down & found some initials so i went back to find more history & got to talking about a book signed by Sgt York & given to seller's Great Grandfather along with a York family Bible. These were in storage...I was sceptical but I kept checking back with no results. Decided to stop by again today, & what do you know, she had two books for me. A 1930 first edition of, Sgt Alvin York, the Last of the Long Hunters & a very tattered string bound Bible. Both given to seller's GGF by Alvin in 1950. Book signed & Bible dates to 1898. No real family tree in Bible other then what recipient noted in back. Seller will be providing a timeline of possession but has been in storage since 1984. Feeling lucky. themick Posted October 29, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 29, 2018 Looks like a potentially great find. Very nice!! Would love to see more pictures such as the markings on powder horn, and the inscription in the Bible. Steve
cagedfalcon Posted October 29, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted October 29, 2018 Looks like a potentially great find. Very nice!! Would love to see more pictures such as the markings on powder horn, and the inscription in the Bible. Steve Horn details. This is what brought up the books. Horn is from back hills of Tennessee. No known relative known with these initials. Notations in Bible. Still trying to figure out if it actually came from the Yorks or from the minister from the same church.
