ShooterMcGavin Posted October 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2018 I heard somewhere that during the Korean War the rank of Sergeant E-5 was dropped from use with no one wearing three chevrons in the U.S. Army at that time. Does anyone have any articles or info on the promotion issues of the 1950-55 period and what the causes and reasoning were for dropping SGT from use entirely? atb Posted October 13, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2018 Go to the US Army Center of Military History website. There should be a digital version of their history of the NCO book.
RayRay Posted August 28, 2021 Share #3 Posted August 28, 2021 My grandfather was a three striped sergeant during Korea and promoted to staff sergeant. However the VA has no records of his pronation so his markers reads sergeant. Have several photos of him with both the three stripes and staff stripes.
