Brian R Posted October 12, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2018 Hi Guys - Two quick questions regarding WWI DSC Award Documents... 1. I have a general idea based on what I have seen over the past couple of years, but what is the general range in value for WWI DSC Award Documents? Obviously there are varying factors like recipient, unit and engagement, but I'm curious what the consensus is here on the forum? 2. Are the AEF documents issued by Pershing's office in France generally considered more or less valuable than the War Department examples issued after the war? I would think the AEF ones are bit more valuable - if so, is the variation in value significant? Thanks in advance! Brian
peoplewhoknowme1 Posted October 21, 2018 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2018 There are many factors but it it is found with the traceable medal each document adds about $800 each. It is a personal preference as to which is better. I like the black eagle doc personally but most people like the Pershing doc. for docs without the traceable medal is about $400 each
Brian R Posted October 21, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted October 21, 2018 Thanks for the reply. Your estimate is generally what I had in mind as well, so youve validated my thoughts. These documents dont seem to come up for sale very often but they do seem to be less than $500 when unaccompanied by other medals or paperwork. I have a lot of award documents in my collection, but mostly German. I really want to add a WWI DFC document or grouping to it, preferably to a New Yorker from the 27th or 77th.
