When was the transition from the round wooden tent pins to the aluminum ones? Have the short aluminum ones always been orange? My guess is the transition happened sometime in the 1960s but does someone know?

I am not sure when the transition occurred

there was a post on the TM concerning the orange stakes...stating the stakes were to be orange for visibility, unless in the field, then they were to be green...That was a quote taken from the TM...from a thread on the forum awhile ago...made me chuckle

not my quote... and maybe I am not quoting it correctly,,call it a summation
