Hi, I am looking for the following general orders for a navigator who was in the 456th BG and flew in B24s.

05/21/1944 GO #565 Awarded AM

05/30/1944 GO #724 Award DFC

06/22/1944 GO #1241 OLC to AM

07/25/1944 GO #2057 2nd OLC to AM

This is the coat worn by the husband of a family friend. She recently passed and allowed me to become the caretaker of his uniform. I believe that he was involved with the raids on Ploeisti refineries in early May of 1941 and I suspect that action that we was awarded the DFC.

Wish i had something. Do you feel comfortable sharing the man's name? I can try going at it that way as well. I assume what you posted is all you know.

Is the Ploesti Raid date you listed a typo? The first Ploesti raid was in 1943. If you are referring to that famous August 1943 raid, I have a complete roster I can look into. I also may have a 456th group book. If you can share more information, I can definitely try to help you.

The actual general orders are probably contained in the AFHRA located at Maxwell Air Force Base. You can do a FOIA request, and they will scan the appropriate GOs if available.
