rldarmstr Posted October 1, 2018 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2018 Wasn't sure where to put this. I came across an acronym (SNL) with reference to U.S. military gear or equipment. Anyone know what it stands for? It's NOT, Saturday Night Live

rldarmstr Posted October 1, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted October 1, 2018 Thanks firstflabn, that would seem to be it. The acronym was used in reference to an accessory to the M1903 Springfield rifle.
dalbert Posted November 24, 2018 Share #6 Posted November 24, 2018 Yes, SNL stands for Standard Nomenclature List. it was used in hundreds of Ordnance publications, i.e. ORD SNL A-32 for the Thompson Submachine Gun; and ORD SNL A-5, List of All Parts of Gun, Machine, Cal. .30, Browning M1917 and M1917A1, and Mounts. They can cover a variety of subjects, and most include parts lists which detail Item Stock Numbers, Drawing Numbers, Nomenclature, and other information, sometimes including photos. They can be a paper collecting genre all on their own... David Albert [email protected]
