I have had this telescopic sight for probably 40 years, and never have figured out what it is for and if it is even military for sure.

Overall Length - 14 1/2 inches
Tube Diameter - Slightly over 3/4 inch

The tube material is brass, painted over with a coat of olive green paint. Mounts are non-magnetic, possibly aluminum and also painted the same as the tube. Even the screws are not magnetic, possibly nickeled or chromed brass.

Fairly low power, probably about 2 1/2 or 3 power. Very short eye relief, less than 2 inches.

Mounts fit normal bases, it came on a Stevens Model 416-2 military model I once had.

I cannot find any markings, there may be some small or lightly stamped ones under the paint.

I guess may have been military used because of the paint and because of the rifle that it was on, but have no other reasons.

Anybody have any ideas as to what it is?

I used to have one of those on a .22 and if I remember correctly Stevens made the scope. It could be under a layer of paint but the tube should be marked. Are there any SN's on the base?
