Modrell, Private First Class U.S. Army, will be held at the Twin Oaks Memorial Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. under the direction of the McHenry Funeral Home. Rev. Daniel D. Walker will officiate.The son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Modrell, he was born June 20, 1917 at McCook, NE., where he was raised and received his early education. He was graduated from the high school at Red Willow, NE., and was married to Anna McCoy on August 21, 1941 at Oberlin, KS. Following their marriage the couple made their home in McCook, until March 25, 1943 when he entered the Army. He went overseas in September, 1943 with the 28th Division 110 Infantry Company B, and entered combat July 12, 1944. He was killed in action on October 02, 1944 at Bleialf, Germany.His remains were recovered recently by workmen working on construction of a new power line near Bleialf.He is survived by his former wife, Mrs. Ann Bewley, and a daughter, Connie Kay Modrell, both of Roseburg: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Modrell; two brothers, Marshall and Howard, all of Corvallis, OR., a brother Richard, of Haigler, NE., two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Peters of Corvallis, and Mrs. Ardis Davis of Harold, S.D.
