opinions on a carbine .30

Hello all. MY grandpa's got an M1 carbine and I thought this would be a good place to get some opinions on it. Right now I know more about garands then carbines and my grandpa doesn't know anymore then I do about it. I got some books on them recently but have not had time to do thorough reading. One main question is whether or not it is lend-lease. My grandpa believes the blue paint indicates lend-lease, like red paint on garand stocks, but War Baby does not seem to say anything about it and an earlier google search turned up nothing about blue paint on carbines. I can't find any British proofs though I know we lent to other countries and it does appear to be imported which raises the question of whether or not it is more of an original piece rather than one that has been reworked numerous times? Thanks in advance. If anyone wants more pictures I have more or can get more.

Well that's a lot of pictures already but I'm hoping someone who is a carbine nut will weigh in. We're both curious for more info on this, especially the idea that it was lend lease. Thanks again all.

In one of the photographs you show the barrel the barrel is Mark C.A.I. it stands for Century Arms it is an imported rifle. These are not as in much demand as a regular carbine but still they hold their value

Looks like a mixmaster of parts.....Barrel is '42 dated and manufactured by Winchester, the receiver serial number range is 1944 manufactured by Inland...Also appears triggerguard was made by Winchester....Bolt is early flat type, when it should be round for a late WW2....Rifle either went through factory refurb or assembled from parts....Refurbish would explain postwar barrel band with bayonet lug and adjustable rear sight....Bodes

As far as the Lend-Lease question goes, I am thinking Carbines were too late in the game to be considered for this program, but perhaps others will chime in.

The shipment of M1 Garands to the UK ended in the summer of 1942 so all production could be focused on the US’s own needs and the Carbine was instituted into use months after this as a front-line weapon.....so IMHO they were not part of any aid programs while the war was on.
