gwb123 Posted September 14, 2018 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2018 No, it is US Army. It was for a super quiet battlefield observation aircraft. I would have to look it up. But it was from the Vietnam conflict.

itshistory Posted September 28, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 28, 2018 No, it is US Army. It was for a super quiet battlefield observation aircraft. I would have to look it up. But it was from the Vietnam conflict. This is the first time I have considered that this one could relate to the YO-3 project. I believe you are right, the airplane has the shadow of what looks like a YO-3. I always thought that it was poor rendition of some fixed wing aircraft. While this has long been ID as 765th Trans Battalion most Trans Battalions were admin level. This one seems to indicate unit level maintenance. The motto leans to that activity. Whether or not the 765th could have been or was the overall parent unit to the YO-3 program is worth looking for. Something that could be telling are the stars on the patch. Three on one side, four on the other. May mean 34. The 765th Trans Bn was under the 34th Support Group. IH
CaptCav Posted September 28, 2018 Share #10 Posted September 28, 2018 Chris - I TOTALLY concur with your hypothesis - if this is a TC patch, it probably had to do with maint issues. If you read the history/CO's portion (in the YO-3 website), it clearly points out that the YO-3 project did NOT report to an in-country chain of command.
