Vincennes Posted September 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2018 Any idea what is going on here? This photo was in a batch of miscellaneous material I bought a while back. It shows 7 Army Air Force NCO's standing around and watching one of them open a safe. I see at least 2 Master Sergeants in the bunch. The photo is about 8x10" and has "May 1944" written in pencil on the reverse. Paul

BILL THE PATCH Posted September 13, 2018 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2018 Maybe this guy bragged on how he was a safe cracker and was proving it. Maybe some side bets to. Well that what i see. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
gwb123 Posted September 13, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 13, 2018 The military used to have safe crackers on hand, due to all of the safes and vaults containing classified or sensitive material. This could simply have been a training exercise. With all of the rank shown in that photo, I doubt someone just lost the combination.

Flashlarue Posted September 13, 2018 Share #7 Posted September 13, 2018 The Herring Martin Hall Safe Company on top of making safes milled uranium slugs for nuclear reactors. When they went out of business the building had to be swept and cleared of nuclear waste.
Vincennes Posted September 13, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted September 13, 2018 Do you suppose there was an official MOS for safe cracker? Paul
