I am not an AAF specialist but I do like the AAF helmets. I thought it would be nice to make a thread showing them. I will start off with my first ever flight helmet, an AN-H-15 which I got when I first started collecting. I hope others will share their helmets too.

I'll play.

My first ever USAAF Flight helmet. Got it back in the mid 70s as a kid. Took me a while to get it repaired and looking the part. RAF Type C favored by USAAF pilots in the ETO

Didn't get serious about collecting USAAF gear until the last 5-6 years. This was my second USAAF used Type C. Often pilots taped in the US receivers into the ear cups as they didn't quite fit right. Had to have a taped version :)

My third USAAF Type C...Do you detect a theme here? :) This one came with goggles and mask and had clearly been together for a long time so I'm kinda proud of this set.

Nice B-5 and 6...

The repair on the B6 is odd and interesting...with little to no use after the repair

Hi Phantomfixer, actually there is no repair, it looks like the cups were removed and resewn lower on the helmet.

My bad, I should have not used repaired...altered then...

it is intriguing to see three different AAF helmets with the same unusual earcups...

Any back story on these...from the same grouping ..

the A-9's appears to have RAF type receivers in them?

No problem! It is hard to tell with photos sometimes. All were found separately, sadly no story on them. They all have standard US receivers.

Here are the two standard USAAF headsets. The R-14's were used early in the war by the Army, the ANB-H-1's came out later on and was used by the Army and Navy. I found the pictures on the internet, but they give nice close ups.
