pfrost Posted September 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2018 LGB has a similar pattern to the AMCRAFT pattern 1 wing. Although I suspect that LGB used this pattern well into WWII, as you will find the pilot, senior pilot, command pilot and the alphabet pilot wings with the small LGB hallmark. I don't recall ever seeing the first pattern LGB wing as an observer wing or in the balloon series. There may be a TO wing in this pattern made by LGB. Nor do I recall every seeing this patter in bombardier, gunner, navigator, aircrew or the medical wings. Muddying up the water there are a couple of variations in shield and background stippling of the LGB first pattern wings that I'm not going to talk about here (though post examples if you are inclined). LGB also made a pelican beak second pattern that included all the WWII ratings. Frequently, the center device was riveted onto the wing. IIRC there was a third pattern of LGB that seems to have been post WWII/KW I have the pilot and senior pilot LGB first pattern wing and have missed out on the command pilot wing a few times. This is one of my favorite wing patterns, but I suspect that they aren't generally as old as the AMCRAFT pattern, though there was likely some overlap. The Rooster Posted September 15, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 15, 2018 These wings are really cool with all the feathers! Reminds me of Amcraft.
