tredhed2 Posted September 9, 2018 Share #7 Posted September 9, 2018 It's a DI, Kevin. It's in Capistrano DI book and in numerous Trading Posts.
patches Posted September 10, 2018 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2018 It's a DI, Kevin. It's in Capistrano DI book and in numerous Trading Posts. Interesting, these cloth DIs, they really don't seem to be that common in WWII, only in the post war period-50s, worn on shoulder loops, directly embroidered on slip on and or Green Leadership tabs, or on branch scarfs and with those mostly theater made and worn. Can't get any hits at all for any period of the 919th Air Base Security Squadron to see more on this unit.

Actually, there are many, you just need to know what they are, look for them, and know your unit histories. Common cloth DIs are the 345th and 347th IRs of the 87th ID - the 345th even has variations. 75th AMB, 751st MP Bn, 357th IR, 176th IR, 312th, 323nd Med Bns all come to mind. Re: 919th, ASMIC has published them 2x and Capistrano has it in one of his DI books. It isn't all on the web.

tredhed2 Posted September 10, 2018 Share #12 Posted September 10, 2018 No, US made. The one above is direct embr and looks to be TM. I'm talking specifically about US made DIs c. 1942-43. You are making this harder than it is.
