27th Division WW1 Hindenburg Line Letter

I bought the most amazing WW1 letter yesterday and I can’t quit reading it. The man was a Sergeant in Company D of the 108th Inf. Regt. The letter is just about the battle of the Hindenburg line. It talks about aerial battles, tanks, gas, dead, and everything that you never usually hear about. Two typed copies were with it in an envelope dated 1926, I’m assuming that is when it was typed. The man’s name was Richard H. Schulz.

Glad you guys liked it. Original is written in pencil but not hard to make out. He typed that he wrote this right after the battle. Detail is something else.

world war I nerd

Thanks for posting the scans. I love reading the first hand accounts written by the Doughboys who actually participated in the actual events … That's real history.
