BILL THE PATCH Posted September 1, 2018 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2018 Hi looking to find info on this 29th. Is it ww1 or WW2? Looks french made? Interwar perhaps. Thanks in advance

sjones Posted September 1, 2018 Share #4 Posted September 1, 2018 I have a near identical one on the same backing material. Mine was made with two shades of blue and cut circular though. Back of patch is identical too.

patches Posted September 9, 2018 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2018 Do you own this one Billy? If so is that backing material Cotton Twill or a Wool Twill like Gaberdine? Looks very Green-ish whatever it is, or is that just the foto!

everforward Posted September 9, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 9, 2018 Agreed that it may be from the 1920s, but Some of the chain-loop stitched SSIs like this could also be theater-made, just saying.... I have an WW1 overseas cap that belonged to a soldier in the HQ Troop attached to the 29th Division Staff that has a direct-embroidered chain loop SSI on to the side of the cap, and it was done in France. Some units and Officers were in positions and locations to have something done like this, while many soldiers simply made their own SSIs out of blanket wool or whatever they could find. BILL THE PATCH Posted September 10, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted September 10, 2018 The chain stiching sorta reminds me of french emb. But I'll listen to the experts Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
