As for the Radioman striker, the only reason it's there is because the USMC was a sub-element of the Navy at the time. Must Have if you collect Navy. He also wrote a book on Navy insignia worn on Marine uniforms (he is a Former Marine), again, a Must Have. Most Navy insignia on Marine uniforms was never authorized. But Marines bought them in shops off base and wore them proudly.
