Kurt Barickman Posted August 17, 2018 Share #9 Posted August 17, 2018 Yes the set entitled the Names Behind the Faces that features MN KIAs Vietnam is an exceptional set for research: my parents submitted documentation for my brother in the 1980s for this research project. bobgee Posted August 28, 2018 Share #13 Posted August 28, 2018 R.I.P. Cpl Gillespie. Semper Fi.....Had you lived you'd be turning 69 on your next birthday, maybe retired from a career, married for many years with a couple of kids and maybe grand kids. Who knows? It didn't happen for you. Hope the present day citizens of St.Cloud remember you and your sacrifice. You remind us of those who gave all for comrades and country. We must never forget. FYI - Regarding the frame. I served in a USMCR reserve infantry battalion in Houston, TX from 1967 to 1977 and participated in way too many posthumous medal presentations. In my experience the medals & documents arrived in boxes of issue. The framing was handled in my unit by the I&I Sgt Major or his delegate, the frame having been procured locally. The only standard we might find today would be groups from the same unit that made the presentation. Sometimes they were not framed and NOK received them as issued. suwanneetrader Posted August 28, 2018 Share #15 Posted August 28, 2018 Here is a set I own of another 19 year old KIA whose Medals were sent to NOK. I also was told they were no longer being engraved at this time but did not know many of them were mailed to NOK already framed. This fame resembles yours but I do not know.
