patches Posted August 16, 2018 Share #5 Posted August 16, 2018 Camp Pickett was where the 43rd Inf Div closed on after it was federalized in September 1950, was your father a Connecticut or Vermont National Guardsman? Great shirts by the way, one's of a kind now this day and age.

Great shirts by the way, one's of a kind now this day and age. he was in the vermont n.g. and was activated and spent about a year at camp picket but got discharged before they went to germany because of a bad leg that was seriously burned when he was 12 years old, he shouldn't have even been in the army to begin with but he told them at his physical that he had poison ivy, that worked until he was in the hospital for an unrelated issue and a doctor wanted to do some skin graft work on him, he told the doc. he wasn't going to touch his leg and was discharged soon after that. I talk to his best friend on the phone regularly who went in with him and did go to germany.

Cause I suspect that Pine Camp one was gotten by him prior to federalization, as the NG units of the northeast, to include the reserves would train at Pine Camp, a big maneuver area.
