gap Posted August 6, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted August 6, 2018 Is this 714th Tank Battalion patch real or made for collectors? If real, is it WW2 or post-war?

Wake1941 Posted August 6, 2018 Share #5 Posted August 6, 2018 76th is mostly like Gemsco, definitely US made. The 714th looks good to me, but is post WW2
Teamski Posted August 6, 2018 Share #6 Posted August 6, 2018 I concur. -Ski
gap Posted August 6, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted August 6, 2018 I am skeptical on the 76th. The weave is very tight and unlike any I have except a 5th RCT patch that Dave previously identified as german made. Tredhead?
BILL THE PATCH Posted August 6, 2018 Share #8 Posted August 6, 2018 The 76th to my eyes doesn't look like a gemsco. Just a plain us made patch. But I've been wrong before Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
gap Posted August 6, 2018 Author Share #9 Posted August 6, 2018 It's not a gemsco.

Wake1941 Posted August 7, 2018 Share #12 Posted August 7, 2018 A majority of the 76th you see are actually black back English made. A German made one would be much different

Teamski Posted August 10, 2018 Share #15 Posted August 10, 2018 Ski, you are much more knowledgeable, but I am still skeptical. There are others out there like that, that have the same weave pattern to them and are not associated with overseas manufacture. Here is an example of a 91st ID patch with the same pattern to it (second from left) Note the difference between it and a Gemsco to its left. My gut feeling is that it is US made. -Ski

Teamski Posted August 11, 2018 Share #17 Posted August 11, 2018 That is certainly screaming German to me! What is your assessment of the OP patch Patchrat? -Ski
phillock Posted August 11, 2018 Share #18 Posted August 11, 2018 76th posted by GAP is US made 714th was activated post WWII,1950-58, however I'm not to sure if they used this patch or whether 714 could of been added at a later date. Definitely not WWII era. Phill
