Allan H. Posted August 5, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 5, 2018 These dog tags came in the first airborne grouping that I ever bought. The veteran served in the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, 82nd A/B Division. When I bought the group, the dealer told me that the tags had been made in a POW Camp. I don't know that this is accurate, but they are an interesting pair none the less. The neck chain is actually from a bathtub where the chain is used to secure the stopper. I was also told that the Lucille listed as the next of kin was his sister. I suppose that I should have some research done. I'd welcome any comments. BEAST Posted August 5, 2018 Share #4 Posted August 5, 2018 Very interesting tags to a Hoosier. Id love to see the rest of the group! It appears that his headstone is on findagrave. His headstone shows him in the 194th GIR. Maybe he went home with the 325th? https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/63123597/john-a-ferguson
Allan H. Posted August 5, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted August 5, 2018 Beast, The grouping consisted of his Ike jacket, the tags, nd a few other pieces of insignia. The Ike jacket sports 82nd and 1st Allied A/B patches on the shoulders and sterling 325th GIR DUIs on the lapels. Additionally, the Ike has his CIB and Glider Badge with two stars. Perhaps he went home with the 194th? I have only recently asked for his records. We will see what those show. Allan

I definitely would like to see the group! I tracked down a couple of articles that I believe is your man. The first article is from the Vincennes (Indiana) Sun Commercial dated July 6, 1944. The other is from the same newspaper dated April 5, 1945 Hope this helps!
